We design wheelchairs that work in real life — on rough roads, in homes, and in communities.

of standard chairs fail

gravel roads.
Most wheelchairs are designed for smooth shopping malls and paved cities. But life doesn't always happen on a flat surface.
Dirt roads, sand, and steep inclines make daily tasks an impossible struggle for standard wheels.
Imported chairs are fragile and impossible to fix once a specialized part breaks. They aren't built for Africa.
When you can't navigate your own yard or street, you lose your connection to the community.
Built to handle real environments, not perfect ones.
A special wheel system that helps users move up and down stairs safely.
Strong frames and wide tires made for dirt roads, gravel, and uneven ground.
Simple parts that can be fixed quickly using local workshops.
Every part of our wheelchair is made to last and adapt to the world around it.
Helps users move over steps and obstacles with more control and less effort.
Equipped with specialized treads that handle sand, stones, mud, and broken surfaces.
Constructed with high-grade local materials that are strong and easily repairable.
The Ruby Wheelchair was officially presented to **President Cyril Ramaphosa** at a Social Summit.
The President commended our efforts in creating locally manufactured solutions that solve real-world accessibility challenges for South Africans.
"We are building a South Africa where innovation serves the people."

See Ernest discuss the journey and the technology behind the Ruby Wheelchair.
Superiority isn't just about better materials—it's about better understanding. We spent years in the field, interviewing hundreds of users in rural communities to build a chair that actually works.
We interviewed users on dirt roads and in tight homes to identify the exact "fail points" of standard wheelchairs.
We took our prototypes back to the same users, letting them test and break them until we got the durability right.
By building in Germiston, we ensure every weld and part meets the standard required for South African life.
"Most companies design in a lab. We designed in the street. That is why the Ruby Wheelchair goes where others break."
— ERNEST MONGEZI MAJENGE
Ernest started by repairing broken wheelchairs in his community. He saw how limited mobility affected people’s lives and decided to change it.
“Movement is a basic human right.”
Every Ruby Wheelchair is handcrafted in Germiston, ensuring the highest quality standards for our users.
We are expanding production to serve South Africa and nearby regions.
